Arrival
A 4 hour delay was probably a blessing as it meant that we took off in the middle of the night and Ellie and I actually slept a few hours. We arrived in Paris late enough that we were able to go right to the Airbnb.
View from the window. It is a 5th floor apartment with a 1-person elevator built in 1898.
We went out to dinner and to see Montmartre. We are staying in my old stomping grounds, where I lived for 6 weeks in the summer of 1990 while taking French classes at the Sorbonne. We stumbled into Le Bon Bock, a period restaurant with a traditional menu. Everything was great: boeuf bourgignon, duck confit, and salmon with bearnaise sauce.
Ellie got ino the atmosphere and humored us with a pose from Degas.
Next, we went to see the sunset over the city at the church. Unfortunately, the police cleared the area at 9:15, 45 minutes before sunset. They were very polite, walking around, shouting "Bonsoir, Bonsoir!
We returned to the Airbnb and prepared for the 11:30-1am Slow Food Board meeting that had been arranged before we booked the trip. Time to crash!
